Spring is for wildflowers and waterfalls. Before the forest canopy above has time to fill in, wildflowers abound - trillium, bluebells, irises, daffodils, violets, and more. We’ll see plenty of flowers over the weekend along with a pair (or trio) of waterfalls that’ll be flowing beautifully after Spring rains.

Join us for an EPIC weekend getaway to our happy place, Red River Gorge, fueled by passions for nature, yoga, people, and FUN! This experience will leave you with mud on your shoes, a smile on your face, and stories to tell.

Of all the paths you take in life, make sure a few of them are dirt.

Things We’ve Seen in the Gorge & Excited to Share with You

Red River Gorge is perhaps the most iconic natural area in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Filled with awe-inspiring arches, stunning vistas, incredible geology, and a vast array of wildlife, you are sure to get your fill from Mother Nature. Here are just a few of the things we have seen at the Gorge.

The Details

This is NOT a retreat. This is an adventure!

We’re going to lace up, pound some dirt, and explore the Gorge. In total, you’ll have the option to do up to 4 hikes across three days that will include all the amazing features that define Red River Gorge - arches, rock shelters, clifflines, waterfalls, and all the other goodies. Just like Yoga poses are optional in any class the activities and hikes on this adventure are optional as well. Our hope is that we bring a group of people together to build community and share in this experience together.

To warm-up and unwind from our explorations, Ratona will lead a series of flows, as well as stretching and restoration designed to position your mind and body to get the most out of your weekend. Hiking is cool, but layering in the yogic elements will dramatically heighten the experience. Yoga is a practice of being PRESENT, the magic of this adventure is that you will find presence and connection both through nature, yoga and community.

Oh, and we’re going to have FUN! We don’t call it our happy place for nothin’! Here’s the quick and dirty list of events:

(Final agenda will be shared upon arrival at the retreat)

  • Check-in begins at 4 pm

  • Sunset hike

  • Opening circle

  • Sunrise hike (short one)

  • Sun salutation practice to warm the body

  • Waterfall hikes (up to three)

  • Miguel’s Pizza

  • Fun by the fire

  • Closing circle with reflection

  • …and some super fun surprises too!

And a few words about meals. Food is provided (that’s one less thing you have to worry about). We will have dinner Friday, breakfast both mornings, pack-what-you-like trail lunches, and the iconic Miguel’s pizza on Saturday night. Please bring your own alcohol or specialty items. Tell us about your dietary restrictions when checking out, as we do a pretty good job of accommodating these.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the cancellation/refund policy for this trip?

Cancel by February 1st for a full refund.
Cancel by March 1st for a 50% refund.
No refunds after March 1st.

Can I have a room to myself?

Yes. If you prefer to have your own room, all you have to do is book a private room.

Can I share a private room?

Yes. In fact, we would prefer it that way. The goal of this trip is to get a good group together to share the magic that lives in Red River Gorge. If you want to share a private room with a friend, purchase a private room, and you can split the cost. When checking out just list who your roomie will be.

Are children allowed to participate?

No. This is an adults only experience and all participants must be at least 18 years of age.

How difficult will the hiking be?

The hikes we have planned are a highlight reel of Red River Gorge and require a solid effort. This won’t be soul crushing backpacking in the deep woods, but it’s also not a series of drive-up hikes from a tour bus. If you can make it through one of Ratona’s classes, you’ll be just fine on the trail:-)

What if the weather sucks?

Hiking, of course, is weather dependent. We’ll hike rain or shine unless severe weather is expected in the area. Since this will be in the Spring, count on rain. And, at least one of the waterfall hikes will involve numerous creek crossings, so expect to have wet, muddy feet - these make for great photos that show how badass you are!

How is this different than a yoga retreat?

Many yoga retreats are serious and emphasize practice on your mat over getting out to enjoy the natural world. This field trip flips that notion - using yoga as a complement to the hiking experience while keeping things light and fun.

Do I have to be a yogi to do this?

No, but we definitely want you to give it a go! Yoga has so many benefits, and it’s not all serious, meditative stuff. The physical part of the weekend’s flows are designed to get you ready for the trail and help restore your body when you come off the trail. Seriously, do the yoga, and discover how amazing it makes you feel.

Will there be bathrooms and showers?

Yes. BedRock is super clean and very modern - complete with bathrooms and showers.

What if I have to poop on the hike?

Mike will show you how to dig a cathole, employ a yogi squat, and bury your treasure! If you’re nice, he’ll show you to a nice tree to hug:-) There is no shame among hikers!
